I’ve been a vocal critic of EMF protection products for years because most of them are complete junk, and some actually amplify your radiation exposure! But today, I’m talking with the one inventor whose products I actually recommend and use myself.
In today’s episode, I’m sitting down with Ben Salem, the inventor and owner of WaveBlock. We’re diving deep into EMFs, radiation exposure, and why most “protection” devices on the market are not only useless but potentially dangerous.
Ben’s story is fascinating. He’s a natural inventor who converted his entire home office into a Faraday cage during the pandemic and tested every EMF product he could find online, only to discover that most either didn’t work or actually made radiation exposure worse.
What I love about Ben is that he’s realistic about technology. He’s not telling you to throw your phone away or go live in a cave. He recognizes that these devices aren’t going anywhere, so he’s creating practical solutions that reduce exposure while still allowing your technology to function.
His wave-breaking theory, inspired by watching ocean waves crash on sand, led to a breakthrough that reduces phone radiation by up to 80%.
In this episode, we’re chatting about:
- Why most EMF protection products make exposure worse
- The shocking truth about Bluetooth vs. 5G
- Outdated safety standards
- Practical protection strategies
The Impact of EMF Exposure
If you understand the health implications, how can we decrease EMF exposure? I’m a big fan of grounding, spending time outside, and trying to get away from it as much as possible.
I feel better with EMF protection in my house, so when we are using these devices, we’re decreasing our exposure.
Ben always had the logical information about EMFs and impacts, but it wasn’t until he moved homes and was living in his mom’s home for a little while that he really noticed the impact.
He had insomnia for months and could not figure out why. He asked his mom where her WiFi router was, and it was in the same room he had been sleeping in.
Ben immediately moved it out of the room and unplugged it at night. He slept like a baby! That was the first time he realized how much EMF and radiation physically impact him.
If people paid attention to how they felt, more people would realize how impacted we really are by these things. Try taking your Apple Watch off for a couple of weeks and let us know if you sleep better or not.
Do your own due diligence and listen to your body.
The Science and Data Behind EMF
I taught a very basic lesson on EMF in my Toxin Free in 3 course.
The FCC and policies are based on very old science. More recently, the update to that guidance was essentially a confirmation that all the studies from 1996 remain valid, so we’re not going to do anything about it.
The EU has way better data and reports out there. They have a full 5G report that is open to the public, and yet it seems like the government just chose to ignore it.
What I found was 1,800 studies, roughly from 1996 to now, and 80% of them show significant harm or some kind of biological interference to mitochondria. There is a huge body of evidence that EMFs are significantly impacting our health.
The Problem With Old Data
If we’re using data from the nineties, how are we supposed to protect people now? In 1996, they tested an old school phone on a 220-pound male Marine. Imagine how big his head and skull are compared to a kid’s or a female’s. It’s a totally different game.
They said that this person is going to only use their phone for about six minutes a day. That phone also only had two antennas, not five like we do now. Phones from then have a totally different bandwidth than what we have today, too.
iPads were never tested and were never meant to be on the kids’ laps. If you’re pregnant and use the iPad over your tummy, it hasn’t been tested on your tummy or lap. It was tested to be a tablet on your table. That’s it.
Earbuds never tested either. Everything has changed.
The Strength of Bluetooth
Bluetooth is equally as strong as the WiFi in your home. It goes through walls and up to 2,000 feet. Bluetooth is often left on mindlessly, even when not in use.
Bluetooth is way more harmful to your health than 5G. Let’s take 2G, 3G, 4G, and your Bluetooth. Your phone is on your skin in your pocket, and it’s downloading music or a video, or a phone call is coming in. That’s penetrating into your body approximately three-quarters of an inch when it’s touching your body.
If it’s three feet away, it’s almost at zero (approximately ⅛ of an inch) because the waves open up. Proximity is key, but it’s still strong.
To ensure you’re 100% safe while you sleep, keep devices at least 10 feet away. The waves have opened up, and they’re not shooting straight anymore. You can still hear your alarm from the other side of the room (and might reduce the number of times you click snooze!)
It’s really difficult in the age of smart appliances and homes. Almost everything “smart” in your home emits EMF. It’s being pushed on us as the future, and it’s actually really hard to find things that are not smart.
Try WaveBlock for EMF Protection
WaveBlock is the one company I trust for effective and safe EMF protection. My family uses their phone cases, and we can’t wait to try their new products that are coming soon.
Ben isn’t telling us to completely change our lifestyles or get rid of all technology. He has created a very simple thing that can improve our health. I know I appreciate it!

FAQs About EMF Protection
How can I reduce EMF in my house?
Some simple ways to reduce EMF exposure are to limit your screen time and use EMF protection products like WaveBlock. I have more tips in this blog post here.
What does EMF do to the body?
It depends on the intensity of the EMF, but it can cause headaches and poor sleep. The long-term effects are still being studied, but evidence shows it’s linked to cancer, infertility, and changes in the brain.
Does EMF go through walls?
Yes. The strength weakens the farther it travels, and when it passes through barriers. WiFi, cell signals, and Bluetooth travel the furthest.
About WaveBlock and Ben
WaveBlock was founded by Ben, a father of three who wanted to create a safer way for his family to use the latest and greatest tech devices.
During the Covid-19 pandemic, Ben’s kids were spending many hours a day using wireless earbuds, laptops, and tablets to do schoolwork from home. Like most parents, Ben assumed these devices were safe to use.
However, his curiosity led him to do some research, and what he found was alarming – the tech devices we have become so attached to emit EMF radiation.
Ben knew something had to be done to protect his kids and make tech safer for everyone. That’s when WaveBlock was born.
