Deborah Enos thought she was an ultra “healthy” individual when she was diagnosed with breast cancer. As a certified health coach, nutritionist, and wellness speaker who grew up on a farm and ate an organic diet, getting cancer was not on her radar. Deborah did all the right things to prevent the diagnosis.

But a few years ago, she suddenly went from running marathons to huddling up with romance novels while she fought cancer. After fighting her cancer, Deborah made it her mission to find the experts to help her figure out why she got this illness in the first place.

Deborah Enos is the host of the Why Did I Get Cancer Podcast and this is an interview that I’ve been wanting to have since she had me on her show to talk about the toxins that lead to cancer.

I’ve binged every single episode of her podcast because Deborah brings on experts that are talking about the things you won’t hear about in main stream media, but they are the things people should hear BEFORE they get a cancer diagnosis.

We dive in to the reason why breast cancer awareness month isn’t prevention month, how cancer effects relationships deeply, and the guest conversations that have impacted her (and me!) the most.

In this episode, we talk about:

  • What led to Deborah starting her podcast
  • The impact of trauma and unresolved emotions
  • The link between root canals and cancer
  • The importance of forgiveness and finding peace
  • What Deborah’s guests have taught her the most

The Inaccuracy on Labels

We love seeing people reading labels at the store. They’re taking an extra step to understand the ingredients in a product they might use or consume.

Just because a box says Heart Healthy, All Natural, or Organic, doesn’t mean it doesn’t contain ingredients that are known to be harmful to your health.

That’s one of the reasons why I created Label Reading Made Simple. I want to teach people how to spot toxins in labels to make more informed decisions for their health.

It’s sad that we can’t trust our government to regulate toxic ingredients or brands to market ethically. We have to be our own advocates and learn which ingredients are causing more harm than good.

How Our Bodies Store Emotions

Hang with me here because this all sounds a little woo-woo. People who have experienced trauma store those feelings in their bodies. Our lungs store grief. Our liver stores anger. Our bodies tell us how we feel. Our emotions are very real and we have to process them and get them out of our bodies.

There are ways to process trauma and heavy emotions, but it looks different for everyone.

Reducing Your Risk of Breast Cancer

Stress is the master of cancer. Dealing with stress (even if you don’t think you have a stressful life), take a look at the childhood hardships or trauma you faced and need to deal with. Remove anything in your life that gives you stress or anxiety or triggers you.

The toxins in your environment are a cause of cancer. While you can’t remove every single toxin you’re exposed to, you can take steps to reduce your exposure.

Connect with Deborah

It was so awesome interviewing Deborah on the podcast. She has learned so much from her own experience of getting cancer and through her podcast guests. I highly encourage you to check out her podcast and learn more about mitigating risk, managing symptoms, and staying mentally well when bad things happen.
