I have always been passionate about looking at labels and safeguarding my family from toxins. I’ve even purchased products that I thought were “clean” because of the way they were marketed (it’s called greenwashing). Then I was introduced to Thieves Cleaner.

I have been using Thieves Cleaner to clean my entire house for a few years. I cannot BELIEVE how simple and affordable it has been to clean every surface of my home (seriously floors to mirrors!) with ONE bottle of Thieves. Infused with essential oils and all plant-based, over 19,000 of my audience have joined me in loving Thieves!!!

So this blog will talk about why I choose Thieves Cleaner and how you can switch to toxin-free cleaning products, too!

Why Switch to Toxin-Free Cleaning?

The National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health studied 2,983 ingredients in our products at home and found 884 toxic ingredients. The toxins 314 caused biological mutations, 218 caused reproductive problems, and 146 (they knew) caused cancerous tumors. Still, they were allowed in the United States, even though they were banned in other countries around the world. Twenty-six seconds after exposure, chemicals are found in measurable amounts in the human body. The average woman applies 300 chemicals a day to her body (80 before breakfast!)

The top most dangerous chemicals in your home are found in:

  • Air fresheners (like plug-ins or candles)
  • Chemical cleaning supplies for your counters, floors, toilets, drains, and oven
  • Furniture polish
  • Dish soap

Looking to ditch the toxic chemicals in your home? One of the EASIEST switches you can make in your home is your cleaning products

What is Thieves Cleaner?

Thieves Household Cleaner is a powerful, all-purpose concentrated cleaner formulated with 100% plant and mineral-based ingredients. You can get a deep clean without dangerous or synthetic ingredients. Plus, your home smells like Christmas year-round – Thieves has a warm, cinnamon smell I just love!

Why Switch to Thieves?

I’ve been reviewing ingredients for ten years and products for the last five. I’ve brought every safe option available into my home and every time I am done reviewing the cleaner, I am so excited to go back to cleaning with Thieves. Here’s why.

I Trust the Ingredients

Thieves Cleaner and Young Living are so transparent about their ingredients. When I called Young Living, they offered to have me come to their farm and show me everything. I went to their lab and a scientist explained all the different tests they do at the farm.

These are the non-toxic ingredients in Thieves:

  • Alkyl Polyglucoside: Vegetable-based surfactant compliant with Green Seal and EPA Design for Environmental standards.
  • Sodium Methyl 2-Sulfolaurate: Biodegradable, plant-based foaming agent, sourced from renewable sources of coconut oil.
  • Disodium 2-Sulfolaurate: A chelating agent that acts as a water softener and is a sustainable and naturally derived anionic surfactant.
  • Tetrasodium Glutamate Diacetate: Plant-based, biodegradable chelating agent derived from food-approved amino acids.
  • Thieves Essential Oils Blend: This blend comes straight from Young Living’s certified organic and regenerative farms.

It’s Super Affordable

Most of what you’re buying on the shelf is water and chemicals. You need to use a lot of the product to clean your home. Thieves, on the other hand, is highly concentrated, which means you only need a small amount of cleaner mixed with water to make a cleaning solution. It goes much further than other products you buy. You can also purchase Thieves Cleaner in bulk and through their subscription service, which decreases the price even more.

You Can DIY Your Heart Out (but also don’t have to!)

This one is so important! I am not a self-proclaimed DIY girlie, but I do love to spice things up and dabble when I feel like it.

Thieves is ultra-concentrated, so you just have to add water! You can create all your cleaning supplies and DIYs using the cleaner concentrate as the hero ingredient, or you can do what I do and clean your whole house with the basic household cleaner recipe (my lazy girl DIY.)

These are some of my favorite Thieves Cleaner recipes!

  • All Purpose Cleaner: Add 1 capful of Thieves Cleaner to a 16 oz spray bottle and fill with water. Spray and use on any surface.
  • Heavy Cleaning: Add 2 caps of Thieves Cleaner to a 16 oz spray bottle and fill with water. Spray and let sit for 5 minutes, then wipe down.
  • Floor Cleaner: Add 1 capful of Thieves Cleaner to 6 cups of warm water. Add three drops of lemon essential oil.
  • Stainless Steel: In a spray bottle, mix ½ capful of Thieves Cleaner and 2 TBSPs of olive oil. Buff the cleaner in the stainless steel with a damp, lint-free cloth. Wipe off excess with a clean, dry cloth.
  • Disinfectant: In a spray bottle mix 1 capful of Thieves Cleaner, 2 cups of water, ½ cup of hydrogen peroxide, and 5 drops of thyme essential oil. Spray, clean, and rinse with warm water.
  • Shower Deep Clean: In a spray bottle, mix ½ capful Thieves Cleaner, ½ cup vinegar, 1 TBSP Thieves dish soap, 1 cup water, 3 drops each lemon, and tea tree essential oil. Spray and scrub.
  • Glass and Mirrors: In a spray bottle, mix 3 cups of water, 5 drops of lemon essential oil, 1 TBSP of vinegar, and 1 capful of Thieves Cleaner.
  • Laundry Soap: In a 32 oz pump bottle, fill ½ of the bottle with Thieves laundry soap, and add 6 caps of Thieves Household Cleaner. Fill with warm water and 20 drops of your choice of essential oil for scent. Use 4 pumps per load of laundry.

If you want to create these amazing DIY cleaning recipes, you’ll need some supplies, which you can find in my Amazon shop. Happy DIY’ing!

Thieves Cleaner is the Way to Go!

I will always recommend Thieves Cleaner to my audience. It’s featured in my Toxin-Free Shopping guide as my top choice for household cleaning. I highly recommend tossing the toxin-filled cleaning supplies in your home and trying Thieves! It’s an easy swap that will make a huge difference in your health.
