These mascaras rely on plant based film-forming ingredients that coat and separate lashes for a longer, more defined look.

Primarily plant oils, waxes, and minerals. These formulas tend to wash off easily but may smudge more.

If most clean mascaras irritate your eyes, this is your best pick.

This new-er formula by KOSAS can be found at Sephora.  It lengthens and separates without clumping and is very buildable. It's my top pick in this category.

These formulas rely more heavily on wax systems that build thickness around lashes for a fuller look. not ideal for oily skin, heat or humidity due to wax melt.

Great volume on this one but the plant resin can be irritating for those with sensitive eyes.

Clean, buildable, non irritating and helps build healthy lashes.

This is my favorite in this category and I like that it comes in black, brown and mauve.

Super light, doesn't weight lashes down, and found at Ulta.

These mascaras are pfas free, but do use  liquid plastic polymers or silicones to dramatically improve durability, curl hold, and smudge resistance.

*Lily Lolo's Big Lash mascara now has polysorbate 20 in it, so it was removed from my shopping guide.

This is the option that claims to be water proof.  After testing it, I would consider it more water resistant than water proof.
